About Ian.

I have over 20 years experience in the creation of user-centred solutions across CX and UX; delivering innovative, transformative customer experiences and customer journey design.

​I aim to design sustainable solutions that respond to human and environmental needs; both now and in the future.

I get greatest satisfaction in creating processes that make a difference in people's lives - helping them through difficult life events and achieving healthy behavioural change.

​I use a mix of qual and quant. I listen to humans and data.

I apply principles of active listening and empathy.

I am naturally inquisitive, analytical and democratic – open to having my thinking challenged & changed for the greater good.

​I've worked with private and public sector in the UK and internationally : HMRC, lots of Local Gov and 3rd sector clients in Social care, Health & Wellbeing, Digital First, Abundance Ethical Investment, Boots, Lloyds Bank, e-on, Superchips, Toys R Us, Emma Bridgewater.

I've used a wide range of tools over the years and am always open to playing with new ones to get the job done -

  • Survey and User interview, focus group & observation - stimulus-led approach - offline and online (zoom)
  • Sociological, Psychological, Behavioural approach - context, motivations and barriers - personas
  • Customer Journey and Process design - using iterative waves of research, design (wireframes, journey mapping , IA, process/flow, rules and algorithms), prototype, test
  • Creative problem solving workshops -  brainstorm, affinity, topdown tree, lean hypotheses, user stories            
  • Collaborative - lead and support small multidisciplinary teams to create result-delivering solutions           
  • Graphics, Animation & Illustration​ - interactive mock-up protoyping (pre dev)
